  • Since 2012, 24 U.S. states and Washington DC have legalized the recreational use of marijuana, 3 of those were just added last year. So you may be asking, with more and more states legalizing cannabis, is it safe to use after you’ve had a stroke? Let's talk about it.

Got it. Don’t inhale wild fire smoke. Hehe.
I had a stroke due to a glioblastoma brain tumor. I’m using an oil tincture 4:1 (cbd/thc) to hep with nausea, appetite and inflammation (which could help with reducing the growth of the tumor). Both were approved by my neurologist/radiation doctor and oncologist.
By the way, I love your channel and I frequently use it to help with my PT. Thank you for producing all these great videos. I also have a physical therapy group that I go to in person, and I always recommend your channel to pass it along to others.

Beginning with your gentle exercise videos, I now see a different side of you. Well grounded in the latest studies, you weave together the bigger picture for us survivors of strokes. Thanks for being so comprehensive, and easy to understand.

Super useful info about how nonspecific those studies are. It's great to haave a video accurately presenting what looks lie little more than a justification for an actual study with less participant controlled undefined inputs

Really appreciate your videos. The background "music" while low key is distracting. Would rather hear just your voice. I was a daily user. It helped me sleep. But after my stroke, a year ago, I stopped using it on the advice of my neurologist. Don't miss it. But It would be interesting to know if psilocibyn is safe for stroke recovery. I started microdosing to help me with anxiety, which it has been great for. Probably even less research done but it'd be great to see your breakdown. Thank you.

The short answer: weed is fine after a stroke. 7 year stroke survivor, and ever since my state went legal in ‘21 and getting my medical card, I’ve been smoking up every day and it’s all good. So please, partake .

Just want to note, this is not the short answer from my video, but this user’s opinion. Watch the whole thing if you want to understand the nuances on why smoking carries an increased risk of cardiovascular issues and the need to talk with your doctor to make sure any cannabis use is right for your situation!

Smoking is smoking after you have had a stroke. Even being around second hand is a no no. 4x more likely to have another stroke if you continue smoking.

I have insomnia and I use one CBN/CBD gummy at bedtime with other medications. I tried smoking Indica, but I hate the THC effects. Smoking it hurt my lungs, increased my heart rate and blood pressure. I don't want it. But the CBN/CBD extracts are mildly sedating.

A thorough and competent walkthrough of the knowledge and limitations on this subject. As for distinguishing between the THC being the cause or the smoking as the method of THC consumption, an interesting approach could be to use drugs like Sativex as a control

I think that it is important to point out that when you *smoke* marijuana you are also forcing those around you to smoke marijuana. Many weed smokers seem to think that they are doing other people a favour by doing so, but they are not. Smoking marijuana should not be legal.

Who smokes weed anymore? I had a stroke over 17 years ago I’ve vaporized weed almost everyday since then and I smoked it for 40 years before my stroke. I grow my own ,which I find very interesting. It improves my mood as does using the vaporizer. I’m in good health and my memory is great. I don’t think that marijuana has had any deleterious effect on my health. 👍🏽🧔🏽‍♂️✌🏽

We know someone who smoked marijuana almost daily even though it made him cough. He was coughing after smoking a joint when he had his stroke that affected his right side. Maybe smoking marijuana is harmful similar to smoking cigarettes? He now ingests marijuana edibles after his stroke.
